At Elkanah Senior Primary we have a tradition of ending the first three terms with two days of activity. Teachers, parents and outside companies offer activities and experiences for our children to learn from. Some are a two day activity and some are a day each allowing the kids to experience two at the end of each term. The activity is generally something that would need a day off school to get the full experience. Something we would not be able to offer as an extra-mural or class.
This term art and drama have come together to create a unique experience for our kids and invited Sophakama, another school, to join us. We start the day together playing icebreakers to get to know each other, relax and get plenty of laughter going. We then break into two groups. Group one goes to art where they paint on canvas with acrylic paint. Group two go to drama. On day two the groups swop. At the end of the day the art children have a self-painted canvas to take home and the drama children present what they have learned.
Yesterday went very well and today should go even better with less nerves on my part.
I will post photos below as the day unfolds.
